WE’RE FROM ILKLEY.
THAT’S KIND OF THE POINT.

Thirty Nine started at 39 The Grove in Ilkley.

Not in a boardroom. Not in a coffee laboratory. And definitely not because we thought the world desperately needed another coffee company.

We simply love coffee.
We love where we’re from.
And we love the life that happens around a really good cup of it.

Early mornings.
Long walks.
Cold hands around a takeaway cup.
Breakfast that turns into lunch.
A coffee after you’ve climbed a hill.
A chat that lasts longer than planned.
Rain against the window.
Sun on the terrace.
Dogs under tables.

That’s our world.

So we decided to make coffee for it.

BORN IN ILKLEY.

Yorkshire is a big part of who we are, but not because we’re trying to turn everything into a postcard.

It’s simply the place we know.

The hills. The moors. The Dales. The weather. The independent shops. The people. The stubborn belief that if something is worth doing, you may as well do it properly.

That spirit runs through Thirty Nine.

Not because we need to shout Yorkshire from every surface.

Because Thirty Nine wouldn’t be Thirty Nine anywhere else.

PROPER COFFEE. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Coffee has become a little bit serious.

There are tasting wheels. Brewing ratios. Processing methods. Words nobody is quite sure how to pronounce. And a surprising number of people who’ll tell you you’re drinking your coffee wrong.

We’re not those people.

Know your coffee inside out? Brilliant.

Just discovered coffee doesn’t have to come from a jar? Also brilliant.

Drink it black.
Have milk.
Use a cafetière.
Pull an espresso.
Make it your way.

There are no coffee police here.

We think about our coffee in two ways.

THE LOCALS are the coffees that live here.

The ones we know. The ones we come back to. The ones that become part of your routine.

THE VISITORS come from further afield.

Single-origin coffees we find, fall for and invite over for a while.

They don’t stay forever.

That’s part of the fun.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF

We care about where coffee comes from.
We care about the people who grow it.
We care about quality.
We care about sustainability.
We care about integrity.
And we care about doing things properly.

But we also believe coffee should be accessible, enjoyable and, frankly, a bit of fun.

Coffee isn’t the whole point.

It’s what happens around it.
